Our New Apartment

Terry's company is setting up the lease for our new apartment now! We are so excited. I'll post interior pictures when we move in (mid-March). The address is 6 Cowper Wharf Road (my Dad will kill me if I write the apartment number, so anybody who wants the address, email me).

We spent our first full day in Sydney (Friday) touring apartments with our relocation advisers. It was really fun but exhausting, awesome to see the whole city and everything though. It rained a little bit, on and off, but we were able to get our first good look at the city. Of course we loved almost everything we saw. Every apartment and neighborhood was so different from the previous one.

We looked at places with massive wrap around porches, views of the opera house, the harbor, outdoor grills, indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs, gyms, high tech security systems. We looked at about 10 in all, and they were all special in their own way.

We picked this place based on the view and the location. It’s in Woolloomooloo, a Sydney neighborhood right next to the city centre. It's called Finger Wharf and it's a smaller apartment than most of the ones we were looking at, but the USP is the large outdoor timber deck off the living room that looks out onto the marina.

The Finger Wharf or Woolloomooloo Wharf is a wharf in Woolloomooloo Bay, Sydney, Australia. The structure is the largest timbered-piled building in the world and was completed in 1915. During its working life for around 70 years it mainly handled the export of wool, but also acted as a staging point for troop deployment to the World Wars as well as a disembarking point for new migrants arriving in Australia.

Today it has been redeveloped as a fashionable complex housing a hotel, restaurants and residential apartments. We looked at another apartment in the building, a loft, which was above the one we chose. It was very pretty too, and bigger, but didn't have outside space. Here's Terry with one of the relocation advisers, looking out at the marina.

Unfortunately the apartment won’t be ready until March 15, so we’ll be in the hotel another couple of weeks! Sorry, Russell, you’ll have to wait to hear what I REALLY thought about American Gangster.
