On the morning of my birthday I went out and got a manicure/pedicure, and then in the afternoon we took a boat directly from our apartment out to Watson's Bay, which is a little cove with a really famous Aussie restaurant called Doyle’s where we had loads of seafood and wine. Terry topped it off when they delivered a kahlua crème brulee with sparklers! Terry gave me the outrageous Prada sunglasses I am wearing in the pics. Shhh don't tell Terry but the best present of all was being able to talk to my Nana on my birthday.
Above is the boat arriving to pick us up, and then me trying to climb down into it!!
Our place from the water.
The Americans have landed!! Last week two massive American aircraft carriers arrived, bringing with them hundreds of sailors and marines who have been all over the place. They are young (VERY young) men and women who have given their lives to defend us all, and thankfully the Aussies have been very gracious and hospitable to them.
hese are the two US ships - they really dwarf the Australian ships. We had a great view from our little boat!
Our starters...
Outside the restaurant.
Looking back at the city.
After our long lunch we went back on a ferry to the Opera House, had a drink at the Opera Bar and listened to music (right along the water, next to the Opera House).
Afterwards we walked home along the water and then lounged at the pool. There are those stars and stripes, peeking through the trees!
